This week we enjoyed more winter activities! We made a hot chocolate craft where we used real hot chocolate and marshmallows. Our sensory bin for the month of January was also focused on hot chocolate and students have developed their language skills through playing at this center. They have also developed their fine motor skills by using tongs and clothes pins to add the marshmallows to the hot chocolate.
We read a few stories about winter this week. We read “The Snow Bear” and discussed the winter animals in the story. We also read “The Jacket I Wear in the Snow”. This is a great story to use the pictures and repetitive text with your child.
We also sang the song “5 Little Snowmen Standing in a Row”. This song promotes early numeracy through counting- ask your child to show you the numbers with their fingers. It also promotes early literacy through rhyming- we can talk about the words that sound the same such as row and bow.
- For Valentine’s Day this year we will be having a Pajama Day on Tuesday, February 13th for the T/TH class and Wednesday, February 14th for the M/W Class. We will be doing Valentine’s Day themed activities throughout the morning. If your child would like to send Valentine’s to give to their classmates we ask that you write To: Friend on every Valentine to make distribution easy. There are 18 children in the M/W class and 19 children in the T/TH class.
