Over the last two weeks we have been finishing up with our bear unit. We finished reading Nick Bland bear stories with “The Very Brave Bear” and “The Very Noisy Bear”. “The Very Brave Bear” was a great story for looking at the characters in the story such as the bear and buffalo and looking at their facial expressions to tell us how they were feeling. “The Very Noisy Bear” was a great story for saying the sound effect words and looking and pointing them out on the pages. Since “The Very Noisy Bear” is about instruments we got to play an instrument as we sang “Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun.” This was so much fun!
We did a fun bear craft to go along with these stories! We used forks to paint a bears head- the forks made our painting look like fur. We then glued on ears, a nose and eyes. Have your child show you their bear in our hallway!
We also have been reading repetitive books such as “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” and “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?”. After snack, we have book time and we have had out multiple copies of these stories, many students are now reading them to their friends! We did a fun retelling crown that you can have your child use to read along with the polar bear story below.
