Santa’s Workshop

Thank you to all parents who came and met with me for Parent Teacher Interviews.  It was so great to discuss all of the growth being made in Pre-K!

This week we continued with fun Christmas activities in the classroom.  Check out the Santa’s we made that are on display on our hallway bulletin board!  We read the story “How Do Dinosaurs Say Merry Christmas?”.  This was a funny Christmas story that also gave us the opportunity to review the terms “expected” and “unexpected”.  When showing your child this story you can ask them when the dinosaur is showing expected behaviour.

We have a new Christmas play center in our room called “Santa’s Workshop”.  In this center there are many activities such as tree decorating, gift wrapping and cookie baking.  All of these activities are great to develop our hand strength and fine motor skills.  There are also dress up clothes and students are enjoying dressing up as Santa, Mrs. Clause, elves and reindeer.

We have been practicing a few songs to share with our parents on December 18th and 19th.  I won’t link these until after you see the live version!  I will link one fun song that we have been singing and developing our gross motor skills through the actions.  “Winter hokey pokey” is a great movement song that everyone loves participating in!

  • On Tuesday, December 18th for the T/TH class and Wednesday, December 19th for the M/W class we are inviting all parents into our room at 11:00 am to hear a few songs from the class and then share Christmas snacks with us.  If you would like to contribute to the snack we will be sharing, there is a sign up sheet outside of the Pre-K door.

  • First day back after Christmas break is Monday, January 7th for the M/W class and Tuesday, January 8th for the T/TH class.
