We have been continuing to learn all about Spring and the different insects and animals Spring brings. We have been watching our caterpillars grow over the last two weeks and we look forward to seeing them and talking about them every circle time. Make sure to keep asking your child about them and what they are doing! We also have dirt in our classroom where students have been enjoying digging and planting. Both of these experiences are so valuable for Pre-K students and it has brought about such great questions, comments and overall discussions for us as a class.
We have been singing a song all about frogs the last few weeks so this week we read the story and made a craft to go along with it. This was a craft with multiple instructions and students had to practice their drawing and cutting skills. You can see them on display above our lockers.
We also read the story “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”. While reading this story we focused on the rhyming words on every page and then we came up with more rhyming words. I was so impressed at everyone’s ability to come up with rhyming words! When showing your child this story, stop at words such as cat, dog, goat, cow and see if they can tell you rhyming words!
