Happy Halloween, Pre-K families! I hope your child enjoyed all of our special Halloween activities this week! We sure had fun over the last two days getting our faces painted, playing Halloween games and enjoying special treats brought in by families.
We tied the Halloween theme into some social emotional learning the last two weeks. Last week we talked about all the different ways we feel at times and read a book about emotions called “Glad Monster Sad Monster”. This was a fun book that allowed us to discuss how the monsters were feeling and then make our very own monster puppet to take home. Creating our monster puppets also expanded our learning on facial features and shapes. Make sure to ask your child all about their monster they brought home! We also had fun making jack-o-lanterns by marble painting and then gluing on their facial features- another great opportunity to talk about emotions!
We have continued our 5 Little Pumpkins learning over the last 2 weeks. I have linked the poem below and everyone has been doing a great job of saying the words and doing the actions. We also read the Pete the Cat book “5 Little Pumpkins” this week and I have linked this fun story below. The last link is a song that is about 5 Little Pumpkins but focuses on their emotions and tied in great to our social emotional learning.
