Pre-K Activities- Thurs. April 23rd

Hi, Pre-K!  I am excited to continue with exploring our imaginations this week.  I would like you to start by watching the video of me reading Not a Box by Antoinette Portis.

Here is another link to the story: Not a Box

We are going to do another drawing today.  This time, instead of starting with a stick we are going to start with a box.  Below, I have shown the steps of starting with a box and making it into a house.  I would invite you to first make a house along with me and then you could start with a box again and make it into anything you wish!

  1. Draw your box- square shape.
  2. Draw a triangle on top of the square.  This is your roof.
  3. Draw a small rectangle in your box for the door and a small circle inside the rectangle for the door handle.
  4. Add two small squares above your door for windows
  5. Draw lines through your windows
  6. Draw a small rectangle beside the roof for a chimney.
  7. Colour and add details!

Since this week is all about imagination and creativity, I thought I would challenge you to use any recycled items (paper towel rolls, kleenex boxes, cracker/cereal boxes, egg cartons, etc.) to build something!  It might be a castle, a pirate ship, a race track- anything you would like!  I can’t wait to see your creations!

I also have a fingerplay to share with you from Ms. Starla, you can practice it and then do it with Ms. Starla and I on our Google Meet next week!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I am looking forward to sharing more activities with you next week!  I also am super excited to see you face to face through our small group Google Meet’s next week!  Parents, if you haven’t signed up yet, you can still do so through a quick email to me!

Love,

Mrs. Lawrence
