What a wonderful first week of having everyone at school! We had so much fun meeting all of our friends, playing in the classroom, in the gym and outside and practicing all of our important routines. We also read some fun stories and completed a fish craft over the last two weeks because we are “O’fish’al” 20/21 preschoolers!
We read many stories about Pete the Cat in Pre-K over the course of the school year and we started by reading about Pete the Cat going to school in the story “Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes”. See if your child can read along with you with this fun, repetitive text!
We also read books by David Shannon called “No, David!” and “David Goes to School” to learn about what is “expected” and “unexpected” in the classroom. It is so important for us to know that behaviours such as walking feet, staying with the group, washing our hands, etc. are expected in our classroom. We also made a fun David mask to practice our fine motor skills by colouring, cutting and gluing.
I wanted to share some pictures with you of all the fun we are having in Pre-K!
- You will be receiving a Fresh Grade invitation to your child’s online portfolio to your email next week. There will be a letter in your child’s backpack to explain what Fresh Grade is all about and how to access your child’s portfolio after you receive the invitation.
- Orange Shirt Day on September 29th and 30th.
- No School on Monday, October 12th.
Have a great weekend and I will see everyone next week!
