The last few weeks we have been reading repetitive books by Bill Marin Jr./Eric Carle such as “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” and “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?”. These are great books for children to be able to read along with and everyone has had fun reading along with me during story time and then picking up our extra copies during book time and using the pictures to read.
Sent home was a brown bear puppet to go along with the story. Play the story linked above and see if your child can use the puppet to help them read along with the story. This craft also developed our ability to name colours and our fine motor skills, such as proper pencil grip, to complete the colouring and drawing. It is so important we work on our pencil grip through activities such as colouring to develop our pre printing skills.
On our bulletin outside the classroom is our polar bear craft. We experimented with shaving cream and glue to make our polar bear’s fur. This was such a fun experiment for all! We also added the facial features to the polar bear.
We have been enjoying so much fun outside the last few weeks in fresh snow! Thank you so much, parents, for bringing your child fully dressed for outside play so that we can start our day outside. We are able to develop important gross motor skills outside such as climbing, jumping and balancing as well as just enjoy the fresh air and burn some energy to increase our focus and attention inside!
- Next week on Wed. Dec. 2nd (evening) and Fri. Dec. 4th (morning) I will be having Pre-K Parent Teacher Interviews. An email was sent to you earlier this week on how to sign up for either a Google Meet or phone call. Please reach out if you have not yet signed up for an interview.
