Hello everyone! We had such a wonderful week in Pre-K with it being our first week with our full classes. We made new friends and completed many fun activities together. This week we completed activities based on two stories, Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons and No, David! In our Pete the Cat story we learned about what we do when we have small problems (Pete keeps losing his buttons, but does he cry? Goodness no!) and we completed a fun craft where we were able to practice colouring and gluing.
In our story No, David! we learned about what is “expected” (examples may be: walking feet, sitting at the carpet, keeping hands and feet to ourselves, cleaning up, etc) and “unexpected” (examples may be: running, screaming, fingers in our nose, too much food in our mouth, etc.). We use the terms “expected” and “unexpected” frequently in the classroom. We also completed a David mask that was sent home to also practice colouring to develop our fine motor skills.
We have also been enjoying some new Fall songs that help us learn our colours as well as count!
Reminders for next week:
- Thursday, September 30th there is NO School for National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. There has been a day added to the T/TH calendar on Tuesday, April 19th. The updated calendar was sent home to the T/TH class.
- Tuesday, September 28th and Wednesday, September 29th if you could send a rock to school with your child (nothing larger than a baseball sized rock) as we are going to each be painting a rock orange to participate in a school wide project leading up to National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. If you forget or can’t find a rock, we will make sure to have extra in the classroom 🙂 Your child can also participate in Orange Shirt Day on these days if they wish.
Have a great weekend!
