Pre-K Fun!

This post is mostly just a sharing of photos as I managed to snap so many that were so great and I thought everyone would appreciate seeing! This week we continued with our “Under the Sea” and rainbows theme and each completed a rainbow octopus that was sent home. This is the second time we have completed a craft with coffee filter colouring and everyone had to work hard to colour their coffee filter and then had fun dabbing water and seeing the colours blend together. We also worked on our numeracy skills as we had to count 8 strips of paper to add to our octopus.

We also continued to have fun in our Pre-K Auto Shop and although the weather wasn’t ideal for outside play this week, we did get out one morning, and had so much fun playing on the snow hill. We will hopefully be playing outside more next week!

Reminders:

  • On Wednesday and Thursday next week wear green for St. Patrick’s Day!
  • No School March 28th – 31st for Spring Break
  • As a reminder, Pre-K Parent Teacher Interviews always happen later in the spring, compared to the rest of the school, more information to come on that in May!
  • If you’re interested in ordering from the most recent Scholastic Book Order that was sent home, make sure to enter our code RC138717 https://classroomessentials.scholastic.ca/

Have a great weekend!

Pre-K Classroom Updates

Hello again, everyone! We have had so much fun being back in the classroom this week after our February break. We read the story Rainbow Fish this week and we centered many of our activities around that story. It is a great story to learn about being kind, sharing and being friends with everyone in the classroom.

Rainbow Fish Story

We used our fine motor skills to paint, glue and stick to make a beautiful Rainbow Fish of our own which is now being displayed on our hallway bulletin board. Check out the photos below!

We also learned a new song about animals in the ocean and have been learning a few rainbow songs.

Animals in the Ocean Song

I Can Sing a Rainbow Song

The Rainbow Colours Song

Below are also some of our sensory activities which incorporate seashells and sea animals.

We also have a new play center in our classroom! Check out these photos of our Auto Shop where so much role play, collaboration and turn taking has been happening!

Each class painted their own car this week to replace the car in the Auto Shop that I had made. We also had a group of students that chose to build a rocket ship together in their free play time with some other empty boxes. It is always so fun when we can work on projects together and use our creativity and imagination!

Reminders:

  • Wednesday, March 16th and Thursday, March 17th wear green for St. Patrick’s Day
  • No School March 28th – 31st for Spring Break

Have a great weekend!

I wanted to share with you some photos from the last 2 weeks as well as some important reminders at the end of this post.

We made heart trees last week and they turned out so beautifully we had to display them in our hallway. With this craft we also discussed all of the ways our heart can feel with the story In My Heart a Book of Feelings.

We made love bugs this week which everyone was able to use their creativity to make! No one’s looked the same!

Here are some of the poems/songs we have been participating in for our Valentine’s/Kindness month!

January Classroom Updates

Hello, Pre-K families! I wanted to share with you some of the activities we have been completing in Pre-K and some photos of us all! For the rest of January, we have continued with our theme of snow and snowmen. This week we have focused on the stories by Caralyn Buehner, linked below.

Snowmen at Night Story

Snowmen at Work Story

Snowmen All Year Story

We completed a fun craft to go with these stories, which is now hanging from the ceiling in our classroom. We first coloured coffee filters with markers, then dabbed them with water to blend the colours and finally added a snowman onto them. The illustrations with the beautiful colours of the sky in the stories inspired this craft.

Last week we also read the story The Wish Tree and now have our very own Wish Tree in our classroom. Check out all of our wishes!

We also have been enjoying some new snowmen songs and a new poem. Everyone has been loving this ABC snowmen song and we often shout out what letters are in our name!

Welcome back!

Welcome back, everyone! We had a wonderful week in Pre-K back together. Since it was finally warmer outside, we enjoyed as much time playing in the snow and on the playground as we could as well as snow painting was a favourite. We also enjoyed stories, activities and crafts all about snow and snowmen in the classroom.

The Biggest, Best Snowman

We also developed our fine motor skills through a snowflake craft this week. We practiced our scissor skills by cutting on white strips of paper and then gluing our squares onto lines to make a snowflake. We then covered them in glitter! These beautiful snowflakes are being displayed in our hallway.

5 Little Snowmen Standing in a Row
