First week all together!

Hello everyone! We had such a wonderful week in Pre-K with it being our first week with our full classes. We made new friends and completed many fun activities together. This week we completed activities based on two stories, Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons and No, David! In our Pete the Cat story we learned about what we do when we have small problems (Pete keeps losing his buttons, but does he cry? Goodness no!) and we completed a fun craft where we were able to practice colouring and gluing.

Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons Story

In our story No, David! we learned about what is “expected” (examples may be: walking feet, sitting at the carpet, keeping hands and feet to ourselves, cleaning up, etc) and “unexpected” (examples may be: running, screaming, fingers in our nose, too much food in our mouth, etc.). We use the terms “expected” and “unexpected” frequently in the classroom. We also completed a David mask that was sent home to also practice colouring to develop our fine motor skills.

We have also been enjoying some new Fall songs that help us learn our colours as well as count!

Reminders for next week:

  • Thursday, September 30th there is NO School for National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. There has been a day added to the T/TH calendar on Tuesday, April 19th. The updated calendar was sent home to the T/TH class.
  • Tuesday, September 28th and Wednesday, September 29th if you could send a rock to school with your child (nothing larger than a baseball sized rock) as we are going to each be painting a rock orange to participate in a school wide project leading up to National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.  If you forget or can’t find a rock, we will make sure to have extra in the classroom 🙂  Your child can also participate in Orange Shirt Day on these days if they wish.

Have a great weekend!

Staggered Entry Fun!

We have been having so much fun in Pre-K the past 2 weeks learning all of our routines and getting comfortable in our classroom environment. We have also enjoyed going to the gym and playing outside on our playground. I wanted to share with you our Good Morning songs, your child can probably sing along and show you the actions!

Hello song

Hello Hello! Can you clap your hands?

We have been focusing on Pete the Cat stories! Here are two stories you could listen to with your child, I bet they can read along with some of the repetitive text in the stories!

Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes

We completed a fun Pete the Cat craft to go with our stories over the past 2 weeks that is now on display in our hallway! We were able to develop our fine motor skills as we explored gluing and drawing with this craft.

Here are some more photos of our play opportunities from the last 2 weeks!

If your child already attended their staggered entry day this week, you would have received the Parent Handbook in their backpack. If your child attends tomorrow or Friday, watch out for it! We have been having so much fun in Pre-K this week already and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the kids over the next 2 days!

Welcome to Pre-K 21/22!

Hello Pre-K families! I am so excited to meet everyone this week for staggered entry! As explained by email, out of an abundance of caution, our in person parent info meeting was cancelled for this week and instead I will send out a video recording of all the information by Wednesday. This will be sent out by email and will also be posted on this website- stay tuned! You will also receive a Parent Handbook in your child’s backpack after their first day of Pre-K.

Just a few reminders!

  • Their school supplies are: backpack, lunch kit (with a healthy snack- no nuts please!), indoor shoes, extra change of clothes and a water bottle. Please label all items!
  • Our Pre-K morning is from 8:30 – 11:30 am and pick up and drop off is from the front entry doors of the school. Please wait outside and the Pre-K staff will come greet you at 8:30!

Spring photo’s came in just in time! Orders can be made online and will be shipped to your house, Lifetouch would like orders made by June 25th. Class photos, unfortunately, have not yet arrived, they should any day. I will either send your class photo home with an older sibling at the school, or we will mail it right to your house.

I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing some of you back in Pre-K next year or in the hallway when you are in Kindergarten! Here is the story I read both classes on their last day, I will miss everyone so much!
